Seating Plans

They’re often seen as silly by those who don’t understand the ins and outs of planning big events, but the fact is seating charts can really help make wedding receptions flow more smoothly. Seating plans just make it easier to ensure that everyone invited has a place to sit and that there’s no confusion on who is to be where when different activities arise during the course of a formal reception.

To make seating plans go together more easily, there are great table top seating plan packages that help brides, grooms or those planning the wedding create a mock up of the reception hall and its tables. Using these seat planner devices, it’s easy to make sure every guest has a place and that seating charts reflect who really should be sitting next to whom. These can then be used to ensure seating cards are placed where they should go.

A professional seating planner can help, but the fact is brides, grooms and family tend to know the guests better. For example, a wedding seat planner wouldn’t be able to say that Uncle John should never be placed next to Cousin Vic because the two bicker around the clock. They might also not know that Mary Jane and Billy have a crush on each other so these two seemingly single guests should be placed next to each other.

Wedding reception seating plans are obvious tools for making sure that guests know where to sit for the festivities, but they can also serve as great tools to help the bride and groom ensure everyone has a good time, or at least the makings for one. Some brides and grooms opt to make their wedding reception seating plans in a manner to get the two newly united families to know each other better. Others use them to make sure guests sit next to who it is obvious they would prefer. Regardless, a wedding table seating plan simply does help make the flow of the event go more smoothly.

Whether it’s a table top wedding seating plan that’s being created or just a mock up chart, make sure people sit where they would be the most comfortable. It’s okay to try and promote some mingling among guests, but don’t put the fire and ice of Uncle John and Cousin Vic together if at all possible!
